The Story
The story of Applied Spectral Imaging (ASI) is a tale of innovation, creativity and science spanning over 27 years.
At ASI, our goal is to improve patient care with advanced biomedical imaging. Therefore, we develop novel diagnostic solutions for the clinical and research communities- providing outstanding clinical value and user experience, tailored to fit laboratory needs. Limor Shiposh
Chief Executive Officer
Limor Shiposh joined ASI in 1999. Limor assumed the position of CEO in 2002. From 1988 to 1990, Limor held various senior positions at the Ministry of Defense Procurement Office in New York, amongst which Assistant to the Deputy Internal Auditor. From 1990 to 1993 and from 1997 to 1999, Limor served as Controller and CFO of Rada Electronics Industries Ltd., a publicly traded company on NASDAQ, with subsidiaries in USA, Europe & the Far East. Limor holds a BA in Economics and Business Administration and an MBA (summa cum laude) from the New-York Institute of Technology.
Orit Alaluf-Cohen
Chief Financial Officer
Orit Alaluf-Cohen joined ASI in 2006 as CFO. From 1999 to 2006 Orit served as an audit manager at Ernst & Young. She was responsible for a wide range of clients including publicly traded hi-tech companies, and participated in the preparation of IPOs. Orit is a certified accountant and holds a B.A. degree in Economics and Accounting.
Nir Katzir
Chief Technology Officer
Nir Katzir was a member of ASI's founding team in 1993. Since then, he has managed key projects and played a major role in the design and the development of ASI's unique products and applications. As an ASI executive he led the Research and Development activities, he was in charge of the algorithms that form the backbone of the company's intellectual property. He is the co-author of many of ASI's patents and publications. Prior to 1993, Mr. Katzir worked on a Ph.D. at a prestigious Institute of Technology. He received his MSc degree in Electrical Engineering and BSc degree in Computer Engineering, both summa cum laude. He specialized in computer vision, image analysis, spectral and multi-dimensional imaging. Mr. Katzir was awarded several prizes, fellowships and honors, such as the P.Martin Excellence award, the Ollendorf award for excellence in the field of image analysis, the Jury award, the Gutvirt Scholarship, and many teaching awards.
Irit Bar Am Ph.D
Senior Scientific Manager
Dr. Irit Bar-Am joined ASI in 1996. Irit is responsible for the development and production of our molecular probe kits. She also plays a key role in developing new applications in cytogenetics and pathology and conducting clinical utility studies. With over thirty publications, she is considered an expert in FISH (fluorescent in situ hybridization), a technique that has revolutionized both research and clinical analysis in cytogenetics. Irit holds a Ph.D. in Human Genetics.
Lana Volokh Ph.D
Director of Product
Dr. Lana Volokh has 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry in variety of positions including R&D, system engineering, advanced technologies management, clinical research management, product, clinical and regulatory strategy development and management. She has worked in corporate (GE Healthcare, Israel and USA), academic (Johns Hopkins University) and start-up (Arineta, and more) environments. Dr. Volokh has been a key contributor in the development of a number of products combining high technology and clinical components. She has also co-authored multiple research papers and granted and pending patents.
Yuval Ben-Zeev
Director of Programs
Yuval Ben Zeev joined ASI in 2016 as a Project Manager. Prior to joining ASI, Yuval worked at Carestream Ltd (formerly Orex Computed Radiography) as a Software Manager leading all software related activities as well as system-wide tasks. Yuval has more than 23 years of experience successfully delivering a wide-range and global state-of-the art healthcare software products (Medical & Dental Computer Radiography, Nuclear medicine scanners, Hybrid NM-CT scanners, etc.) Yuval holds a BsC degree in Computer Engineering from the Technion Israel Institute of Technology and a PMP certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI).

Bob Buckwald, Ph.D.
Director
Dr. Buckwald was a co-founder of Applied Spectral Imaging and served as its CEO until July 1999. He has forty years of experience managing electro-optics instrumentation companies and founder of six Israeli companies. Dr. Buckwald presently serves as Chairman of the Board of CI Technologies, Inc. is the CEO of CI Systems (Israel) Ltd and was on the faculty of Physics at the Israel Institute of Technology - Technion.
Thomas Egolf
Director
Mr. Egolf received a Ph.D. in chemistry and a MBA from the University of Zurich. He is the founder of TAT Capital Partners Ltd. an international Venture Capital firm specialized in micro-technology. In his role he was and is on the Board of several companies in various countries. He has over twenty years’ experience as CEO of technology based international companies.
