Use of Artificial Intelligence to Enhance Karyotyping Efficiency of Both Normal and Abnormal Cases

This study, conducted at Mendel Laboratories, evaluated the impact of AI-based chromosome analysis using ASI’s HiBand system across 307 peripheral blood and bone marrow cases. Results showed a 69% reduction in karyotyping time for peripheral blood and 28% for bone marrow compared to traditional workflows, with significant improvements for both normal and abnormal samples. The findings highlight the transformative potential of AI in cytogenetic diagnostics, with future developments expected to further enhance accuracy and turnaround time.
