The Story

The story of ASI is a tale of innovation, creativity and science spanning over 20 years.

Our goal is to improve patient care through advanced biomedical imaging. We develop novel diagnostic solutions for the clinical and research communities, providing outstanding clinical value and user experience, tailored to fit laboratory needs. ASI’s digital systems provide the necessary tools Pathology, Cytogenetics and Research laboratories need in order to meet the growing demands of 21st century diagnostics. Founded in 1993, ASI markets, services and supports its products in nearly 50 countries. The Company has worldwide offices in the US and Asia and a global network of distribution partners. With over 3,000 systems deployed worldwide, we put great emphasis on longstanding customer relationships and the tireless pursuit of innovation.

ASI’s products are powered by GenASIs™, our core technology and the backbone of our systems. Combining Image Acquisition with computer-assisted Analysis, our systems enable laboratories to provide advanced diagnostics to patients, grounded on powerful algorithms and customer focused software. Our wide portfolio of dedicated solutions for Brightfield, Fluorescence and Spectral imaging and analysis includes HiPath Pro, PathFusion, HiBand, HiFISH, Harmony and Rainbow.

Management

Limor Shiposh
CEO

Limor Shiposh joined ASI in 1999. Limor assumed the position of CEO in 2002. From 1988 to 1990, Limor held various senior positions at the Ministry of Defense Procurement Office in New York, amongst which Assistant to the Deputy Internal Auditor. From 1990 to 1993 and from 1997 to 1999, Limor served as Controller and CFO of Rada Electronics Industries Ltd., a publicly traded company on NASDAQ, with subsidiaries in USA, Europe & the Far East. Limor holds a BA in Economics and Business Administration and an MBA (summa cum laude) from the New-York Institute of Technology.

Orit Alaluf-Cohen
CFO

Orit Alaluf-Cohen joined ASI in 2006 as CFO. From 1999 to 2006 Orit served as an audit manager at Ernst & Young. She was responsible for a wide range of clients including publicly traded hi-tech companies, and participated in the preparation of IPOs. Orit is a certified accountant and holds a B.A. degree in Economics and Accounting.

Nir Katzir
CTO

Nir Katzir was a member of ASI's founding team in 1993. Since then, he has managed key projects and played a major role in the design and the development of ASI's unique products and applications. As an ASI executive he led the Research and Development activities, he was in charge of the algorithms that form the backbone of the company's intellectual property. He is the co-author of many of ASI's patents and publications. Prior to 1993, Mr. Katzir worked on a Ph.D. at a prestigious Institute of Technology. He received his MSc degree in Electrical Engineering and BSc degree in Computer Engineering, both summa cum laude. He specialized in computer vision, image analysis, spectral and multi-dimensional imaging. Mr. Katzir was awarded several prizes, fellowships and honors, such as the P.Martin Excellence award, the Ollendorf award for excellence in the field of image analysis, the Jury award, the Gutvirt Scholarship, and many teaching awards.

Shai Meltzer
Customer Support and Operation Director

Shai Meltzer joined ASI in 2018. Prior to joining ASI, Shai was finance manager at Marvell, CFO at Wavion Networks and in recent years held few key positions at Nanomotion - CFO and VP Operations followed by a General Manager position. Shai brings more than 15 years of management experience, which includes developing business growth strategies, maximizing operating margins, finance and accounting as well as building strong, diverse teams. Shai holds a B.A. in Economics and Accounting from Haifa University, Israel.

Reut Sagiv
Business Operations Director

Reut Sagiv joined ASI in 2008. Prior to joining ASI, Reut was part of the management and held operational positions in several startup companies. Reut's holds a degree in Chemical Engineering and BA in Biology from the Technion, Israel.

Irit Bar Am Ph.D
Senior Scientific Manager

Dr. Irit Bar-Am joined ASI in 1996. Irit is responsible for the development and production of our molecular probe kits. She also plays a key role in developing new applications in cytogenetics and pathology and conducting clinical utility studies. With over thirty publications, she is considered an expert in FISH (fluorescent in situ hybridization), a technique that has revolutionized both research and clinical analysis in cytogenetics. Irit holds a Ph.D. in Human Genetics.

Dima Markman
Research and Development Director

Dima joined ASI in 2016 and today leads the R&D department. With extensive experience in clinical applications, SW and algorithms development for the medical device industry, Dima has held several senior R&D positions. Prior to joining ASI, he was VP R&D of Shina Systems Ltd., which develops solutions for the radiology and cardiology markets for companies like Philips and United Imaging Healthcare, and before that was a member of the IBM Research team in the area of image processing and algorithms development. Dima holds a B.Sc and M.Sc in Electrical Engineering and an MBA, all from the Israel Institute of Technology, Technion.

Shay Levav
Quality and Regulatory Affairs Director

Shay joined ASI in 2015 as QA & RA Manager. Shay has vast experience in Quality, Regulatory and Processes Improvement and leading cross organization projects . Prior to joining ASI, Shay held several Quality positions at Carestream Health (formerly Orex Computed Radiography), a health imaging and information technology solutions company. Shay was responsible for managing the Quality of the company products, processes and subcontractors. Shay’s additional former experience includes positions in Project and Commercialization Management, at Carestream Health. Shay holds a degree in Electronics Engineering and a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification from the American Society for Quality (ASQ).

Noam Karstaedt
Director and Chairman

Mr. Karstaedt has been an active member of the venture capital community for more than 20 years. Mr. Karstaedt presently serves as Director of Gamida Cell, Ltd.

Bob Buckwald, Ph.D.
Director

Dr. Buckwald was a co-founder of Applied Spectral Imaging and served as its CEO until July 1999. He has forty years of experience managing electro-optics instrumentation companies and founder of six Israeli companies. Dr. Buckwald presently serves as Chairman of the Board of CI Technologies, Inc. is the CEO of CI Systems (Israel) Ltd and was on the faculty of Physics at the Israel Institute of Technology - Technion.

Thomas Egolf
Director

Mr. Egolf received a Ph.D. in chemistry and a MBA from the University of Zurich. He is the founder of TAT Capital Partners Ltd. an international Venture Capital firm specialized in micro-technology. In his role he was and is on the Board of several companies in various countries. He has over twenty years’ experience as CEO of technology based international companies.
